The government is currently considering the introduction of a control price for coconuts.

This matter was reportedly discussed during the recent meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Cost of Living.

Accordingly, it was discussed to impose a control price of Rs 75 per coconut.

A control price will most likely be imposed for coconut by next week, a member of the Cabinet Sub-Committee told Ada Derana on condition of anonymity.

The price of a coconut currently ranges between Rs 90 and Rs 110 in the market while it has been reported that in certain areas the price is determined according to its weight.
