Another member of Aava Group arrested

Another suspected member of the criminal gang ‘Aava Group’ was arrested by Chunnakam Police.

A sword was also taken into custody, the police spokesman said.

The suspect was arrested over a series of acts of violence carried out in Jaffna Suburbs such as Kalviyankadu, Ramanathan road and Kondavil.
 
The 18-year-old suspect was identified as a resident of Kokavil.

He is due to be produced before Jaffna Magistrate. 

The suspected leader of ‘Aava Group’ was arrested along with 5 other gang members on August 07. 

Sathyavel Nathan Nishanthan, alias “Nisha Victor,” who is also the main suspect in the recent attack on two police officers in Kopai, was taken into custody by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID).  

Another three suspected members of ‘Ava Group’ were also arrested by Chunnakam Police on August 10.

The suspects were identified as Thuraisingam Raj Kumar alias ‘Ajith Kumar’ from Manippai, Ravichandran Stralinton alias ‘SR’ from Manippai and Krishnapillai Kirubakaran alias ‘Kisba’ from Chunnakam.
