The low pressure area in the central Bay of Bengal is located 800km away from the Sri Lanka. It is likely to further intensify into a depression during next 12 hours and move north-westward away from Sri Lanka. Therefore, wind speed may increase in the Northern and Eastern sea areas.

Several spells of showers will occur at Northern, North-Central and Easternprovinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Hambanthota district after 2.00p.m.

Fairly strong gusty winds (up to 50kmph) can be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwaand Centralprovinces and in Galle,Mathara, Amparaand Batticaloa districts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
