Deputy Leader of the National Freedom Front MP Jayantha Samaraweera stated that he will not abandon the political force that supports former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and that he cannot be swayed by high ranking political posts or threats on his life.

Speaking to the media at a special political briefing of the NFF, MP Samaraweera stated that a major coup against Wimal Weerawansa and the leaders of the NFF is to be expected. He further stated that a toxic political culture has been created within Sri Lanka.

“The country is threatened by the Tamil diaspora and the international community to create a federal constitution while human rights activists are pressuring the government to punish our war heroes.” Jayantha Samaraweera said.

He also pointed out that the government has attempted to subdue the allies of the former President in an attempt to solidify political power. MP Samaraweera declared that the NFF and all the allies of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa cannot be ‘bought over’ by the government or anyone in the international community.
