Four ‘Aava’ group members arrested with swords

Four suspected members of the notorious criminal gang ‘Aava’ Group have been arrested by police at Tellippalai, Jaffna. 

Police said that the suspects were arrested last night (10) in a special operations carried out, acting on information received that a gang was threatening people in Manippai and Tellippalai areas in Jaffna.

Four swords in the possession of the suspects as well as four motorcycles used by them have also been taken into custody. 

It has been uncovered that the suspects in question were wanted in connection with a series of robberies and acts of violence.

The arrested suspects are between the ages of 27 and 17 while they are residents of Manippai and Tellippalai. They are to be produced at the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today (11). 

Police have launched investigations to arrest three more suspects who had managed to flee during the operation.
