Education Minster to take legal actions against Principals violating the procedure of school uniform gift voucher distribution

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had instructed officials to take legal actions against Principals who do not hand over school uniform gift vouchers to students.

The directions were given by the Minister after considering the reports carried in media citing about Principals who make various mediations and follow other options without issuing school uniform gift vouchers to students.

The Principals should provide the opportunity for students to buy uniform materials from a shop of their choice, the Minister said.

The Principals have no power to promote a specific business establishment or to motivate students to buy materials from a specific place, the Minister said.

Disciplinary actions will be taken against such Principals, the Minister added.
