Vehicle parades run rampant despite warnings from elections commission

December 22, 2017   08:17 am

Several Local Government nominees were seen in Puttalam engaging in numerous forms of promotional parades following the submission of nominations for the polls, despite being warned by the elections commission not to conduct any such parades.

Notably several nominees from the Podu Jana Peramuna were seen parading around the city with lotus buds in hand.

It was also reported that certain police officers had stopped traffic to enable the vehicles parading around the city to pass through without obstruction.
