The special commodity levy imposed on imported potatoes will be increased by Rs 29 per kilogram from midnight today (Feb. 23), the Ministry of Finance said.

The current levy of Rs 1 per kilogram has been increased up to Rs 30, the ministry said.

The decision has been taken for the benefit of local farmers as the local potato crops have started to reach the market.

The revision of the levy will be in effect until March 31.
