Couple attempt to smuggle out gold worth Rs. 9.1 million fails

A Sri Lankan couple was arrested by the custom officials at Bandaranaike International Airport,Katunayake while attempting to smuggle 2.35kg of gold to India.

The stock of seized gold valued at over Rs. 9.1 million, according to Customs.

The couple was bound to Mumbai, India on a flight today morning (22), Assistant Customs Media Spokesman Vipula Minuwanpitiya.
