Wholesale and retail sellers say that consumers cannot buy high-quality wheat flour at the control price imposed by the government.

The government imposed a control price of Rs 89 as the maximum retail price for 1kg of wheat flour, last night (19).

Sales agents say that wheat flour companies issues several varieties of wheat flour and that high-quality wheat flour is needed to produce bread, roti and cakes. They say that bakery products cannot be made using low-quality wheat flour.

Only low-quality wheat flour can be sold as wholesale or retail at the given control price, further points out the traders.

Although a maximum price has been imposed for wheat flour by the government, 1 kg of high-quality wheat flour is sold at Rs 100 in the estate sector.
