Five injured in head-on collision between van and bus

Five persons have been injured and admitted to the Ginigathhena Hospital following a head-on collision involving a van traveling from Seeduwa to Nuwara Eliya and a private bus traveling from Hatton to Colombo this morning.

The accident had occurred at around 7.00 am today (22) at Rampadeniya, Ginigathhena on the Hatton-Colombo main road.

The private bus, which had been traveling at a high speed, had collided with the van, traveling on the opposite direction, causing it to veer off the road and topple towards a roadside house.

Eleven persons were inside the van at the time of the accident while the wounded were rushed to hospital by the residents in the area.

The accident had caused serious damages to both vehicles.

Ginigathhena Police is conducting an investigation.
