DIG Nalaka de Silva and Namal Kumara ordered to appear before court

DIG Nalaka de Silva and the Director (Operations) of the Anti-Corruption Force Namal Kumara have been ordered to appear before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on Monday (October 8).

The order was issued by the court when the case filed with regard to the ongoing investigation into the alleged assassination plot targeting President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was taken up today (5).

The alleged conspiracy was exposed by Anti Corruption Force operations director Namal Kumara.

Kumara had revealed that former head of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nalaka de Silva had discussed with him the alleged plot to kill Sirisena and the former Defence Ministry secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

He had presented recordings of the alleged phone conversations to support his accusations.

DIG de Silva was questioned by the CID on Kumara’s revelations. He has been transferred out of the TID pending investigations.
