Police STF deployed for prison security

Police Special Task Force (STF) will be deployed to ensure the security of prisons from tomorrow (17) onwards. 

The Ministry of Justice and Prisons has decided to obtain the assistance of the Police STF in order to curb numerous rackets prevailing within prisons.

Accordingly, the STF was supposed to be deployed for security in prisons from yesterday (15), however, due to some obstacles related infrastructure, it was postponed, STF stated.

Police STF officers will be deployed for the security of the Angunakolapelessa Prison from tomorrow.

STF officers will ensure the security in prison perimeter and inspect persons visiting from outside. 

Welikada and Magazine prisons will also receive STF security within the next two weeks.
