Temple thieves tied to a pole and beaten up

Jaffna Security Forces stated that four youths who had robbed Kovils and several houses in Tirunelveli in Jaffna have been caught by the residents of the area and had been handed over to the police after tying them to a lamp post and assaulting them.

The residents had caught the thieves when they had been leaving the Kovil after robbing it of some antiques.

According to security forces, the residents of the area had identified the youths from CCTV footage from instances where they had previously robbed two Kovils and several houses in the area. Then they had acted to capture them when they had engaged in another robbery.

The residents had tied the said youths to a lamp post near the main road and assaulted them before proceeding to hand them over to the Police.

Jaffna police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
