SLFP Mawanella organizer remanded

Kegalle Magistrate has ordered to remand the SLFP Mawanella organizer Imtiaz Cader Mohamed, who was arrested by the STF for possession of 3 unregistered firearms, until November 02.

STF officers had found 3 unregistered firearms and several rounds of ammunition with him when searched his house in Kegalle, last morning (18).

A Dubai-imported MP5K automatic rifle commonly used for VIP security purposes, a T-56 rifle, a Repeater-type firearm and a stock of live ammunition has been recovered from the house.

Imtiaz Cader Mohamed had also served as the former leader of the house of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.

He had been charged with the possession of an illegal firearm on a previous occasion as well.
