Despite anti-India sentiments of some, the Sri Lankan government conducts friendly relations with India, states Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne.

Minister mentioned this attending an event held in Agalawatte area in Matugama-Aluthagama, yesterday (22).

Stating that India and Sri Lanka have a long standing friendship, he reminded that Sri Lanka got Buddhist philosophy, arts and crafts, music and Ayurveda from India.

Although Indo-Sri Lankan friendship exists since the time of kings, some are attempting to create a resistance against India, he said.

He points out that while there are accusations on handing over the Mattala Airport to India, an island-nation which doesn’t have a developed economy cannot grow alone.

People who are opposed to everything can be found at every junction and popular politics done in such a manner cannot build a nation, he further said.
