Bangladeshi woman arrested with 32 kg of heroin

The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) has arrested a Bangladeshi woman with over 32 kg of heroin valued at around Rs 388 million.

The suspect arrested during a raid carried out in the Dehiwala area yesterday (15), the Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

At the time of the arrest, the suspect had been in possession of 1 kg of heroin.

Further interrogations have led to an inspection at a house rented out by the suspect in Ratmalana, where the police managed to uncover 31 kg 329 g of heroin.

The total value of the heroin haul is estimated to be Rs 388 million.

The suspect, a 23-year-old Bangladeshi female named Surjo Moni, is to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today (16).

The PNB is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
