Female defrauding money while promising foreign jobs arrested

A 47-year-old female has been arrested in Nawagamuwa area, for allegedly defrauding money while promising jobs in Canada.

The Crimes Investigation Department (CID) has made the arrest last night (17) at a house rented out by the suspect, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara stated.

Reportedly, fifty-one complaints regarding the suspect had been lodged at several police stations across the country.

Gold jewellery worth Rs 2.6 million and Rs 50,000 in cash, 72 passports, 50 passbooks and 50 ATM cards have been seized in possession of the suspect.

The CID is conducting further investigations on the incident.
