ICC to set up permanent anti-corruption office in SL

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a decision to establish a permanent office in Sri Lanka to probe corruption allegations, stated Minister of Sports Harin Fernando at a press conference held today (31).

General Manger of the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit Alex Marshall has stated that the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) can be named the most corrupted cricket institute in the world, said the Minister.

Minister says that Marshall mentioned this at a meeting between Marshall and himself on the 27th December.

Meanwhile, a sports ombudsman post to look into issues of the players will also be established, said the Sports Minister.

Additionally, the hotline number 1978 and an active web page will be establish to receive information on corruptions and other relevant information on the game.

Further details are expected to be revealed within the coming 2 months, according to Minister Fernando.
