Carbon Tax imposed on vehicles

The Commissioner General of Motor Traffic says that a Carbon Tax has been imposed on all vehicles except electric vehicles with effect from January 01, 2019.

Commissioner General Jagath Chandrasiri, attending a press conference held in Colombo today (09), stated that the tax would be levied at the time of obtaining the revenue license.

However, this tax will not be imposed on revenue licenses obtained in this year; it will come to effect from the next year, he further said.
