Two nabbed with various drugs and firearms in Ja-Ela

Two suspects have been arrested at Weligampitiya in Ja-Ela for the possession of a large haul of drugs including over 16 kilograms of heroin and several firearms.

The individuals, who were traveling by car, were arrested by Police Special task Force (STF) personnel following an operation today (15).

Around one kilogram of heroin was found in the vehicle while officers discovered an even larger stash of a variety of narcotics hidden at the house rented by the suspects in the Ja-Ela area.

Over 15 kg of heroin, 4 kg of Crystal Methamphetamine, also known as ‘ice’, 5 kg of hashish and 300 grams of cocaine were seized by STF personnel from the house.

In addition to that 4 revolvers, 2 sets of handcuffs, 15 fake vehicle number plates and a stock of bullets were also discovered at the house.

The arrested suspects are believed to be close associates of underworld figure ‘Jee Bumba’ and are allegedly connected to the shooting incident in Hekitta, Wattala.
