Sugar content color code introduced for biscuits

A sugar content color code will be introduced for biscuits as well, stated the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine, Rajitha Senaratne.

Accordingly, this measure will be implemented from the 2nd of April 2019.

The color codes will indicate not only the sugar content of the product but also the salt and fat content, the Minister stated.

Addressing a press conference held at the Department of Government Information, the Minister stated that these color codes will be applicable to confectionary and solid and semi-solid food.
