SLFP-SLPP to meet on June 17 for next round of talks

The fifth round of discussions between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has concluded a short while ago.

SLFP General Secretary MP Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that both parties agreed to meet for the sixth round of talks on June 17.

He stated this while speaking to reporters following the meeting which was held at the office of the Leader of the Opposition today (07).

The discussions are focused on the possible formation of an alliance between the two parties.

MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, MP Thilanga Sumathipala, Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa had represented the SLFP at the meeting while Prof. G.L. Peiris and MP Dullas Lahapperuma were among those present representing the SLPP.

The two parties had reportedly discussed the upcoming elections and the need of reaching an agreement in that regard without delay.

The two parties commenced official discussions on March 14 and subsequently met on March 21, April 10 and May 9 for talks.
