Suspected burglar dies after jumping off from three-storied house

A suspected burglar, who had jumped off from the third floor of a house in Kadiranawatte in Mattakkuliya, has died after being handed over to the police, says Ada Derana reporter.

The deceased, who is said to be a breaking and entering suspect, had jumped off from the three-storied house when a woman who had noticed him began screaming.

He had been crawling towards the gate when the residents of the area captured him.

The suspect was then handed over to the Mattakkuliya Police, however, he had died between 8.00-9.00 am this morning while he was still in police custody, Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

Colombo (North) police division is conducting further investigations into the incident. The postmortem examination of the deceased suspect is also underway.
