Army Intelligence Sergeant arrested over Noyahr abduction

Army Intelligence Sergeant Chamika Sumith Kumara has been arrested over the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr.

He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on the directions of the Attorney General, says the Attorney General’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne.

Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the arrest was made yesterday (22) after summoning him to the CID for investigations on the case.

He is to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today (23), SP Gunasekara said.

The total number of suspects arrested over the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr now amounts to nine, he said further.
