293 suspects arrested over Easter attacks so far

A total of 293 suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attacks, stated the Police Media Spokesperson.

The suspects are arrested over terror links to the Easter Sunday attacks, aiding and abetting arrested terror suspects, being active members of banned organizations and receiving training at training camps with the terror suspects.

Out of the arrested suspects, 115 are currently held under remand custody after being produced before the relevant magistrate’s courts.

Another 178 suspects are detained under detention orders, the Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

He stated that 100 bank accounts of 41 suspects who aided and abetted terror suspects have been frozen. Over Rs 134 million were found in the frozen bank accounts, he added.

He further said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has seized Rs 20 million from the terrorist group.

Additionally, assets of the terrorist group worth over Rs 20 million have also been recovered so far and further investigations are being carried out on the matter.
