Two dead, 18 hospitalized at a spiritual healing camp

Two persons have died after an attempt to cure illnesses at a spiritual healing health camp in Horowpothana, Anuradhapura.

Eighteen others have been hospitalized in the process as well, stated the Police Media Division.

Nearly 20,000 persons had gathered at a faith-healing session organized at the Horowpothana Central College.

However, two critically ill persons who had attended the session had died at the venue, stated the Police.

The deceased persons have been identified as a 38-year-old female from Kalutara and a 78-year-old male from Galle.

Fourteen out of the 18 persons who fell sick at the event have been transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
