Two dead and two injured as van collides with train

Two persons were killed while another two were injured and hospitalized after a van collided with a train at a railway crossing in Kandegoda, Ambalangoda.

Police said that a family of four, a married couple and their two sons, were traveling in the van at the time of the accident.

The mother and one of sons died on the spot while the father and the other son have been admitted to hospital. 

The accident had occurred as the van had attempted to pass through the railway crossing despite the oncoming train.
