The term of the special Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to inquire into the Easter Sunday terror attacks has been extended until the 31st of October, 2019.

Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena is set to appear before the Committee on the 20th of September, the Chairman of the Committee Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri said.

On a previous occasion, the term of the Committee was extended until the 30th of September and then by another two weeks recently.

A motion had been presented to the Speaker of Parliament on extending the term as the committee had required more time to complete its report.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had also testified before the Parliamentary Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday attack on August 06.
