31,500 police officers promoted

A total number of 31,500 police officers including Police Constable and Inspector of Police have been promoted, the Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The promotions, granted under a three-phased programme with the approval of the National Salaries and Cadre Commission and the National Police Commission, will be effective from the 1st of January 2019.
Under the three phases 2019.01.01, 2020.01.01 and 2021.01.01, police officers will receive promotions according to their seniority, SP Gunasekara added.
Under the first category, 5,824 police officers will accordingly receive promotions.
