Permits for transport of sand, soil, clay abolished

December 4, 2019   07:32 pm

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to abolish the permits for the transport of sand, soil, and clay, stated Minister S. M. Chandrasena.

The decision will come into effect from tonight, stated the Minister.

At the recent Cabinet meeting, several Ministers had pointed out that the need for obtaining permits for the transportation of sand, soil, and clay has created difficulties in supplying raw materials to local industries and the construction industry.

It was also pointed out that various irregularities occur in the issue of these permits.

Considering these points, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to eliminate the existing need to obtain licenses for transporting sand, soil, and clay with immediate effect.
