Upcountry train services disrupted by minor landslide

Train services on the upcountry line have been disrupted owing to a minor landslide between Diyatalawa & Bandarawela railway stations, says the Railway Control Room.

Accordingly, the trains setting off from Colombo to Badulla will be terminated at Diyatalawa for the time being. The trains departing from Badulla will be stopped at Bandarawela railway station.

Buses have been deployed to transport passengers between Diyatalawa and Bandarawela.

The adverse weather country that prevails across the country has affected thousands of people. The Meteorology Department today (05) said the showery condition in Northern, Eastern, North-central, Uva and Central provinces is expected to continue.

In the meantime, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued landslide warnings for Badulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura districts.
