Import levy on wheat flour to be slashed

December 12, 2019   11:03 am

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to reduce the import levy on wheat flour to reduce its prices.

Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Ramesh Pathirana stated this addressing the press briefing held at the Department of Government Information to announce Cabinet decisions today (12).

This measure intends to ensure competition in an open market instead of the monopoly of wheat flour import, the Minister pointed out.

According to him, this tax cut is a temporary measure to reduce the prices of wheat flour.
