Prisoner shot, injured while attempting to flee

Prison officers have opened fire at a prisoner who had made an attempt to escape at the Homagama court premises this morning (17), says Ada Derana reporter.
The injured inmate has been admitted to Homagama Hospital.
When he was escorted to the Homagama Court Complex by the prison officers this morning (17) for the hearing of a case filed against him, the prisoner has made an attempt to flee.
The prison officers, who gave him a chase, then opened fire at the fleeing suspect.
It was reported that he was sentenced to jail over drug offenses.
