2019 records highest number of elephant deaths in Sri Lanka

The highest number of elephant deaths in Sri Lanka’s history is reported from 2019, says the Center for Environment and Nature Studies.

According to the National Coordinator of the Center Ravindra Kariyawasam, 361 elephants have died in Sri Lanka due to various reasons.

Kariyawasam further stated that the government should initiate an immediate program to control this situation.
