UNP MPs Ajith P. Perera and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka have not been included in the newly appointed Working Committee of the United National Party (UNP), sources told Ada Derana.

UNP sources said that this decision has been taken against the two MPs on charges of violating the party’s collective discipline.

Accordingly, the 2 parliamentarians will not be allowed to attend the Working Committee meeting which is scheduled for this evening (30).

The UNP is expected to reach a final decision regarding the party leadership later today (30), after the previous meeting held on Jan. 16 ended without a decision.

Meanwhile, former UNP Minister Harsha de Silva tweeted today that UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has sacked a group of Sajith Premadasa loyalists from the Working Committee.

According to his tweet, along with Perera and Fonseka, former MP Bakeer Markar and Mayoress of Colombo MP Rosy Senanayake too have been removed from the Committee.

De Silva has dubbed the action as ‘not a good omen’.
