Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has met Indian President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi, a short while ago.
During the discussions, President Kovind has stated: “We firmly believe that India’s growth is linked to peace and prosperity in its neighbourhood. A stable and prosperous Sri Lanka is in the best interest of India.”
He has strongly condemned the Easter terror attacks in Sri Lanka last year. Both leaders committed to fight and defeat terrorism.
PM Rajapaksa, who departed for India yesterday for a four-day state visit, held bilateral discussions with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and Indian Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar earlier today (08).
He was also accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
This is the first visit of Mr. Rajapaksa abroad since he assumed duties as the Prime Minister.
