The Ministry of Health says four more quarantine facilities are to be established in the country.

Accordingly, these quarantine facilities will be set up in Southern, North-west and Central provinces and in a suburb of Colombo, the Ministry of Health said.

This decision was taken during the emergency meeting of the National Action Committee to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka yesterday (26). The panel had focused on the rapid spread of the virus in Korea, Middle East and Europe.

Attention was also given to the measures that should be taken prevent the spread of the deadly virus in the island as Sri Lankans residing in other parts of the world, especially in Korea, Italy and Middle East begin to return to the country for the upcoming festive season.

The 22-memebr panel has agreed that these Sri Lankans must be examined thoroughly upon arriving in the island and be quarantined for 14 days if they are diagnosed for any diseases.

They have also discussed about regulating the arrival of ships in the country and enacting immigration and emigration laws in this regard.
