25 students suspended for 2 years for removing CCTV cameras at Kelaniya University

Twenty-five students of the University of Kelaniya, who have been identified in connection with the incident of removing CCTV cameras at the university premises, have been suspended for 2 years by the university administration. 

Issuing a statement today (28), the administration of the Kelaniya University stated that further inquiries pertaining to the incident are ongoing while steps have also been taken to promptly fix the CCTV cameras back in place.

The university further stated that as the 2017/2018 academic year comes to an end on February 29, 2020 the Dalugama premises of the Kelaniya University will be declared a restricted area for all students from 8.00 a.m. on that day.

The administration notifies that all students must leave their hostel premises before 8.00 a.m. on February 29.

Meanwhile the weekend postgraduate courses, diploma courses, certificate courses and all related examinations will be postponed until further notice, it added.
