Issuing of driver’s licenses and related services halted

The Ministry of Transport Services Management and Department of Motor Traffic has taken a joint decision to temporary stop all Driving License-related services to avoid the public gatherings for obvious reasons towards preventing further spreading of Covid-19.
Accordingly, as a preliminary step, action will be taken to restrict temporarily the public’s access to the Driving License Head Office in Werahera or any other D.M.T. District Office for obtaining driving licenses, renewals or related activities until March 31, 2020.
“Therefore, the public is informed hereby that the driving license related services of the Werahera Driving License Head Office or other Motor Traffic Department District offices will not be in operation from tomorrow (17) up to the 31st of March 2020.”
ln addition, all written and practical examinations that have already been scheduled from tomorrow (17) to March 31,2020 will also be canceled, the release stated.
Accordingly, the public is requested to avoid visiting Werahera Head Office and other district offices during this period.
Solutions with respect to Driving Licenses which should be extended within this period and examinations temporarily cancelled will be notified in the future, it said.
