CSE to reopen for trading tomorrow after four days

March 19, 2020   07:31 pm

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) will reopen for trading tomorrow (20) morning, after remaining closed for four days amidst the Coronavirus outbreak in Sri Lanka.

Trading on the CSE is set to resume on Friday (20) with revised trading hours.

The pre-open session will take place from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. followed by open auction at 10.00 a.m. while regular trading is to commence after the open auction. The market will close at 1.00 p.m.

In view of the government declaring a period of six working days from March 20 to 27 for employees of the public and private sector to work from home, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has requested member firms and trading members to follow suit to the extent possible.

The CSE had declared Tuesday a market holiday owing to the Government declaring a special public holiday for three days from March 17. However, the market holiday continued for four days until today.

Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in consultation with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), had closed the market to minimize public interactions in curbing the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of all market participants.
