PM Mahinda Rajapaksa has given instructions to provide permits for vehicles transporting essential consumer items and vegetables to economic centres.

The Acting Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne has been instructed to take necessary measures in this regard, the Office of the Prime Minister said today (28).

The Premier has also directed the Acting IGP to look into the difficulties that these drivers face while transporting essentials.

He has, however, emphasized that law should be strictly enforced during the curfew period.

PM Rajapaksa, meanwhile, urged the general public to support the government’s efforts towards defeating the threats of COVID-19 in the country.
