Sri Lanka extends ban on entry of passenger flights

March 29, 2020   01:09 pm

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has extended the ban on passenger aircraft arriving in the country.

The restriction was due to end on the 30th of March; however, considering the current situation in the country, the ban has been extended until the 7th of April.

However, the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) is open to flights heading to other countries carrying migrant passengers and emergency flight landings.

In addition, BIA will remain open for aircraft landing due to technical difficulties, to obtain food and fuel and flights without passengers, CAASL said.
