Grama Niladharis call off boycott of Rs 5,000 allowance distribution duties

Grama Niladhari officers have resolved to suspend their decision to withdraw from the duties of distributing Rs. 5,000 allowance to low-income families.

Ada Derana correspondent said Grama Niladhari officers reached this decision following the discussions they had with relevant authorities.

The government recently decided to grant an allowance of Rs. 5,000 to the employees of various fields who were affected by the outbreak of coronavirus.

However, the Grama Niladhari officers subsequently decided to withdraw from their duties citing political pressurization.
