Over 64,000 arrested so far over curfew violations

A total of 64,387 persons have been placed under arrest for violating the curfew since March 20 while 18,169 vehicles were seized.

During the last 24 hours ending at 6.00 am today (25), 1,710 individuals have been arrested for violating curfew orders, the Police said.

Meanwhile, 557 vehicles were also taken into custody during this period.

In addition, 20,497 cases pertaining to curfew violations have been filed so far and 7,934 among them have been penalized.

Sri Lanka Police has warned of strict legal action against people caught violating the quarantine curfew regulations.
