Seven more Covid-19 cases brings total to 1,148

The Ministry of Health says that seven more persons have tested positive for Coronavirus raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,148.

All seven new Covid-19 cases are individuals who had recently returned from Kuwait and are currently at the Minneriya quarantine centre. 

Accordingly a total of 444 infected patients are currently being treated at hospitals while 695 patients have been discharged after recovery.

The ministry said that 52 new cases were identified within yesterday and that 49 of them were returnees from Kuwait. The other three included two navy personnel and a returnee from Indonesia. 

Approximately 1,742 PCR tests had been carried out yesterday (24).
