Tally climbs to 1,164 as 2 more tests positive for COVID-19

Two more persons are confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus, stated the Ministry of Health a short while ago.

Twenty-three new coronavirus positive cases have been reported within today so far.

Earlier today (25), 21 persons, all who had arrived in the country from Kuwait, were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Accordingly, the total number of coronavirus cases reported in the country is at 1,164 cases.

Sri Lanka confirmed its tenth death from COVID-19 infection a short while ago. The deceased is a 52-year-old female who had suffered from heart conditions prior to death. She too had been undergoing quarantine upon arrival from Kuwait, stated the Director-General of Health Services.

Currently, 459 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the country, as per the Epidemiology Unit.

A total of 695 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital upon complete recovery from the illness.
