New COVID-19 patient brings cases count to 1,531

COVID-19 infections confirmed in Sri Lanka reached 1,531 this evening (29) following the detection of another virus-positive patient.

The Ministry of Health said this new positive case is reported from Sri Lanka Navy.

Earlier today (29), nine coronavirus patients were discharged from the Colombo East Base Hospital, Navy Hospital and Homagama Base Hospital as they had recovered completely. This brought the recoveries tally to 754.

The number of actives cases under medical care accordingly reached 767.

Sri Lanka reported its 10th COVID-19 death on Monday (25) as a 51-year-old woman who had arrived in the country from Kuwait succumbed to the disease.
