Repatriation should be done in a way that doesn’t risk public health – Defense Secretary

Although it is the government’s responsibility to repatriate every Sri Lankan citizen, it should be done in a manner that does not pose an issue to the health of the general public, says Defence Secretary retired Major General Kamal Gunaratne.

He mentioned this speaking at the ‘Itukama’ program organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Electronic Broadcasters.

Gunaratne said that anyone of any age, no matter from what country, when in danger, will think of their motherland.

There are about 40,000 Sri Lankan expatriates expecting to return to the island, he further said.
