Two fresh cases push coronavirus case count to 1,645

Two fresh cases of coronavirus cases reported a short while ago moved the total count of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,645.

The new cases have been identified among Sri Lanka Navy personnel, confirmed the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, 12 patients who had been receiving treatment for the virus were discharged from their respective hospitals today (02) hiking the tally of recoveries in the country to 823.

A total of 811 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the island, according to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry.

Sri Lanka witnessed its 11th death from the coronavirus on Monday (June 01) as a 45-year-old male who had returned from Kuwait succumbed to the disease at the Homagama Hospital.
